Pre-arrival Information

All students who enrol will receive a useful pack of information by email before their courses start. This covers aspects such as banking, currency, transport, food, climate, clothing, health and educational resources.

Personal Tutors

We place great emphasis on the well being of all our international students. Personal tutors are assigned to all students to give advice and support throughout their time at Abbey College Manchester, and to monitor progress.
This is undertaken by means of regular meetings, but additional chats can be arranged if a specific issue or problem needs discussing.

The Head of Year also provides a supporting role to all students to ensure they get the best possible experience from studying with us.

Induction

International students need to arrive at the college before academic classes begin to get to know their new surroundings.
As we are a relatively small college, the building, staff and our facilities are soon familiar. Developing relationships with other students is also something that takes place quickly.
During induction, students will be introduced to Manchester as a city. A tour of the city centre will take place so they can learn about, and know where to find, all the shopping, cultural, sport, leisure, arts, business and learning facilities.

Assessment of English skills is conducted at an early stage. Tuition is offered to all students who require it to address individual needs and to enable them to get the most out of their studies.

A four week English course is available to students prior to starting their programme of study and is strongly advised where these skills need improving.
