Abbey College Manchester can arrange accommodation for students with home stay families in locations within easy reach of the college by bus, train or tram.
All students under the age of 17 must stay in this type of accommodation. The home stay families are carefully selected to ensure a friendly, safe environment in which students can relax, integrate and study. A student will have his/her own double sized bedroom, together with a desk and storage facilities. The host family will provide lunch in the week if requested. Bathroom facilities are usually shared with the family. However, in many cases the house will have two bathrooms and sometimes a student will have a bathroom for his/her exclusive use.
Accommodation is offered on a full board basis, which includes breakfast, packed lunch and evening meal each day.
Students enjoy a degree of responsibility with their own house keys and the use of facilities such as the washing machine, television and telephone. They are encouraged to spend time with their home stay hosts in the evenings and during weekends. This helps improve English skills and an understanding of the British way of life.
