The BTEC Diploma is an alternative route to gain the qualifications required for university entrance. It is a highly valued qualification recognised by universities throughout the United Kingdom and in over a hundred countries worldwide.

At Abbey College Manchester we offer the Extended BTEC Diploma in Business, which is the equivalent of three A-Levels. This is a two year programme in which eighteen units are studied.

Although we advise students to take the full two year course we do offer a twelve unit Level Three BTEC Diploma in Business, which is equivalent to two A-Levels and can be achieved in one year.

The flexibility of the BTEC qualification means it is also possible to study six units as part of an A-Level programme and obtain a qualification which is the equivalent of one A-Level.

Each unit studied in the BTEC course combines theory and practical activities, equipping students with a sound knowledge of business as well as the skills needed to succeed at university.

Assessment is in the form of written assignments and is continuous throughout the course; students can achieve pass, merit or distinction grades.
