New Principal Announced

11th October 21

Abbey College Manchester has announced the appointment of its new Principal, Chris Randell, who will take over the running of the college in January 2022 following the departure of Liz Elam, who is leaving the college after twenty-two years of exceptional service.

Chris, who has been Assistant Principal at Abbey College Manchester since September 2019, joined the leading independent college with a wealth of leadership experience, having spent the previous nine years in various senior leadership positions at international schools both in the South of England and Czech Republic.  Prior to moving to Prague, Chris was a languages teacher and Head of Department at a number of independent schools across the UK.

Outside of work Chris has many interests, he is a keen runner, avid football fan, and enjoys gardening, reading and films. During the holidays, he can usually be found in France or Switzerland, walking, running, practicing his French and enjoying the local produce.

Commenting on his appointment Chris said, “I am honoured to become Principal of this dynamic and exciting college situated in the heart of Manchester. Here at Abbey College Manchester our flexible programmes and personalised learning, combined with our strong academic ethos, offers a unique alternative to traditional schools, something which I look forward to building upon and developing further.”
