Boarding

 

For international students and UK students who do not live in the Manchester area, high quality accommodation will be arranged. A student’s age will determine how the accommodation is organised but the overall aim is to ensure all new students who require accommodation have secured a place before they arrive at the college to study.

 

Accommodation for Students aged 16 or above

Secure Entrance of Clydesdale House

Students aged 16 or above at the start of the academic year have the choice to either stay with a host family or in the Student Residence – Clydesdale House.

Clydesdale House  boarding house is located in central Manchester, offering high-quality, safe accommodation within a 10 minute walk of Abbey College Manchester.

Clydesdale House has 24 hour on site Security, along with secure door entry system and CCTV cameras. There is also secure cycle storage, laundry facilities, onsite maintenance team, and cleaning of kitchens completed weekly.

Abbey College Manchester have exclusive accommodation on the top two floors of the building, with access restricted to our own students and staff. There are 35 single rooms in separate clusters for girls and boys.  All rooms contain:

  • A 4ft wide size bed (wider than a standard single bed)
  • Desk and Chair
  • Wardrobe and drawers
  • Shelves/storage space
  • En-suite bathroom comprising toilet, wash-hand basin and shower
  • Curtains and blinds

All rooms are en-suite with newly fitted modern bathrooms, each cluster (approx 10 rooms) has a large kitchen equipped with hobs and ovens and plenty of fridge and freezer space. There is a large communal lounge in each cluster with a 50 inch television, a corner sofa and a table for socialising, study and activities.

The cost for the academic year from 1st September 2022 to July 2023 is as follows. Students can stay at Clydesdale House during all college holiday periods except for Christmas. During this three-week break students must return home.

Standard En-Suite £15,400 per annum
Deluxe En-Suite £16,400 per annum
Premium En-Suite £18,200 per annum

Included in the fees are:

  • Room for requested duration (Please note the boarding will be closed at Christmas and during the summer)
  • Three meals per day. Breakfast, packed lunch and dinner all prepared by our
    in-house cook
  • Large shared kitchen, fully equipped with a wide range of appliances such as ovens, toasters, kettles, etc.
  • Large shared living area, with sofa, dining table and 50 inch television
  • Good Wi-Fi connection
  • Weekly bathroom cleaning
  • Bed linen & towels
  • Full-time Houseparents on-site 24 hours
  • All laundry
  • Indoor bike storage
  • Activities programme arranged by Houseparents.

Accommodation for Students under 16

Students under 16 at the start of the academic year must stay with a host family unless they live with a parent or other blood relative (i.e. aunt or uncle; grandparents or a brother or sister over the age of 25). Host families are carefully selected to ensure a friendly, safe environment in which students can relax, integrate and study. A student will have his/her own single bedroom, together with a desk and storage facilities. Bathroom facilities are usually shared with the family. However, in some cases the house will have two bathrooms and occasionally a student will have a bathroom for his/her own exclusive use.

The cost for the academic year from 1st September 2022 to July 2023 and what is included is shown in the table below. Students can stay with their host family during all college holiday periods except for Christmas. During this three week break students must return home.
