A Level Taster Morning

Prepare for A Levels with Confidence!

JOIN US ON WEDNESDAY 4TH FEBRUARY TO EXPERIENCE LIFE AS A SIXTH FORMER AT ABBEY COLLEGE MANCHESTER

Year 11 students are invited to spend a morning at Abbey College Manchester, gaining first-hand experience of what it’s like to be a Year 12 student at the College.

During the morning, students will take part in hands-on A Level lessons, develop an understanding of the skills essential for success at A Level, and learn how we support our students every step of the way. There will also be the opportunity to tour our city-centre campus, visit the Learning Support Centre, and spend time in the Student Common Room.

Students will explore the key differences between school and college life for post-16 study, including how independent learning works in a college environment. There will also be plenty of time to ask questions about study support, university applications, and extracurricular activities.

What will the morning involve

The morning will give you a fully immersive experience of Sixth Form study.  You will be able to experience Year 12 lessons in two of your chosen A Level Subjects, as well as meet current students and staff, tour the building and have your questions answered about study support, Oxbridge and medicine support and university applications.
9.15 – Arrival
9.30 – Welcome from the Principal and outline of the morning
9.45 – Lesson 1
10.30 – Lesson 2
11.15 – Break – time with the current Year 12 in the common room
11.30 – Study skills session – the jump from GCSEs to A Level study
Midday – QnA session – focus on support for University Applications, extra curricular, individualised study support.
12.45 Depart.
