All international students with IELTS of below 6.5 study Academic English alongside their main academic programme
Abbey College Manchester teaches Academic English through a dedicated department and the aim is to prepare international students for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), which is required and recognised by all UK universities.
All international students whose first language is not English are required to attend Academic English classes unless their IELTS score is 6.5 or over or alternatively is sufficient for their university of choice. The classes are embedded into all students’ main academic programme of study.
Teaching focuses on meeting the needs and aspirations of international students and developing their academic English skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking.
