During the course you will learn how to analyse a wide variety of written and spoken texts, including media texts, literary texts, and the spoken word.

WHAT IS GCSE ENGLISH?

The English syllabus we follow is Edexcel’s IGCSE B linear specification.

There is one examination paper, taken in the summer, which accounts for 100% of the overall grade. The examination is formed of two sections. Sections A and B test the skills of reading and comprehension of non-fiction texts. Section B requires students to complete two creative writing tasks. This is a single tier award.

Throughout the year the skills needed for all three sections of the exam are taught in practical and exciting ways. Towards the end of the course these skills are developed and honed enabling students to succeed in the summer exams.
