The Great Abbey Bake Off

4th December 12

Abbey College Manchester BTEC Students Bake Off

The Great Abbey Bake Off was conceived as an idea by Abbey College Manchester Business BTEC students for part of their ‘Organising an Event’ module. Students and staff alike were invited to don their aprons and oven gloves and bake their best cakes. 35 cakes of all shapes, colours and sizes were entered, which was a fantastic achievement for such a small college.

Students and staff then paid a contribution to sample the cakes during break-time and lunch, and to give scores both for presentation and taste. After a closely fought competition with some very high scores achieved, the winner was student Asad Shaikh who received a £20 gift voucher.

Almost £100 was raised for the college’s chosen charity, Francis House Children’s Hospice.

The event was brilliantly organised and managed by the Business BTEC students.
