GCSEsSmall class sizes and high standards of teaching consistently produce good academic results that are well above the national average.
The college offers a unique and highly successful One Year GCSE Programme for those local students who:
- Wish to transfer after completing the first year of GCSE (Year 10) at their current school
- Have already taken their GCSE examinations and wish to retake some subjects to improve their grades
- Have just relocated to the Manchester area
Up to 6 subjects can be undertaken and the complete GCSE Programme is delivered over one year. It is expected that under normal circumstances students will be aged 15, 16 or perhaps 17 at the start of the academic year.
Students have a base room and a dedicated and experienced Head of Year and personal tutors to oversee the successful completion of the course. Students of statutory school age have timetabled Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) and sports.
For some international students whose English language skills are judged to be not quite at the level required to undertake the One Year GCSE Programme, the options of 18 months and two years are currently available. These are undertaken at a slower pace to the traditional One Year GCSE Programme.
Once they have completed their GCSEs many students stay with the college and progress on to the Two Year A-Level Programme.
