Talented mathematicians from Abbey Manchester are celebrating resounding success after competing in a prestigious, national challenge.
Four students put their skills and knowledge to the ultimate test in the UK Mathematics Trust Senior Maths Challenge, a competition which encourages students to think, stimulating problems for both beginners and experienced problem-solvers. After contending with other students from across the nation, our mathematicians took home a series of accolades, placing in the top-scoring 66% of participants.
Year 12 student Zian (Alex) soared to success securing a sought-after Gold Certificate and coveted ‘Best in School’ badge; he has now qualified for the next round. Additional achievements came from Year 12 student Mohammed and Year 13 student Liujia, who both attained Silver accolades, while Hugo in Year 12 achieved a desirable Bronze certificate.
Principal of Abbey College Manchester, Chris Randell commented: “We are immensely proud of our high-achieving students for excelling in this prestigious, national challenge – they have secured fantastic results.
“As a college, we consistently identify opportunities to encourage our students to extend their learning beyond the classroom, helping them to apply and further develop their skills. The UK Mathematics Trust challenge is one of the many activities that support our wide-ranging, college curriculum and forms an integral part of the student experience here.”
