Congratulations to Year 13 Photography student Nikolas, who has been awarded Highly Commended in the Key Stage 4–5 (Years 10–13) Short Film category at the ISA National Film and Animation Competition for his moving film, 3AM.
The short film offers a deeply personal reflection on Nikolas’ experience of seeing the world through the lens of ADHD. Through creative filmmaking, he shares emotions and experiences that were difficult to express in words, producing a piece that has resonated with both judges and audiences alike.

Reflecting on his achievement, Nikolas said:
“I’m glad that other people are able to enjoy my work, as the work means quite a lot to me. During that time ADHD has been a barrier to my studies where I couldn’t really express it in words, causing quite a lot of stress. Then I figured I could just express it in a short film. So quite a lot of the sequences in the film are personal to me, which just makes it more special to me. Knowing that other people are able to acknowledge my work feels like it took a load off my mind, so thank you.”
Claire Rigby, Head of Art, said:
“We are incredibly proud of Nikolas and this well-deserved national recognition. 3AM is an outstanding example of how creativity can be used to communicate personal experiences with honesty, courage and originality. Nikolas has shown exceptional technical skill alongside a genuine artistic voice, creating a film that is both thought-provoking and deeply moving. His willingness to share his own journey through ADHD has resulted in a powerful piece of storytelling that has clearly connected with others. Congratulations, Nikolas, on this fantastic achievement—we look forward to seeing where your creative talents take you next.”
Everyone at the school congratulates Nikolas on this fantastic accomplishment and wishes him every success as he leaves us to go to Univeristy in September.
