Abbey College Manchester is celebrating a record year of A Level results today (13 August), as students receive the grades they have worked towards throughout their time at the college.
This year’s graduating cohort achieved an outstanding 71% of A Levels graded A*- B and nearly 90% of all grades awarded at A*-C. A 100% pass rate has been achieved across all subjects.
Particularly strong performances were recorded across a number of individual subjects. Accounting and Photography celebrated a remarkable 100% A*-B success rate, while Business, Economics, Further Mathematics, Photography, Psychology, Religious Studies and Textiles all achieved 100% A*-C grades. STEM subjects were a particular highlight, with Chemistry delivering outstanding results, including 94% of students achieving A*-C grades and over half achieving the top A*-A grades. 75% of Further Mathematics students were awarded A*-B, with a quarter of Further Mathematics awarded A*. Mathematics also saw strong results with 69% of students awarded A*-B and 41% awarded A*-A. Over half of Biology students were awarded A*-A grades, and 73% of Physics students achieved A*-C. Photography led the way for top grades, with one-third of students attaining the prestigious A* grade, reflecting the breadth of academic excellence across the college.

For many students, today’s results mark the beginning of an important milestone, as they prepare to take up places at universities across the UK and internationally, including the University of Oxford, Durham University, King’s College London, the University of Manchester, and the University of Bristol.
The college has also celebrated notable success in securing offers for highly competitive medicine and dentistry degree courses, with 21 medicine and dentistry offers received.
Among the high achievers is Hugo, who has secured a coveted place to study Medicine at the University of Oxford, after achieving A*A*A*. Reflecting on his success, Hugo shared: “Initially, I felt a great sense of relief knowing the hard work had paid off. That quickly turned into pride and excitement for the opportunities ahead at a world-renowned university. Abbey College Manchester provides such a diverse and supportive environment; mistakes are met with guidance rather than judgement, and new approaches are always welcomed. It is this inclusive community that I value most.”
Marc Cronin, Head of College comments: “We are incredibly proud of our students and the achievements they are celebrating today. These results reflect not only their hard work, ambition and determination, but also the strength of the support they have received from our dedicated staff throughout their time at Abbey College Manchester.
“As a college, we are committed to helping every student fulfil their potential and take confident steps towards the future. Whether progressing to leading universities in the UK or further afield, our students leave us with the academic foundations, confidence and independence to embrace the opportunities ahead. We extend our warmest congratulations to the Class of 2026 and wish them every success as they begin this exciting next chapter.”
